Accounts sheet – Nov 2017

This is my test page

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that my friend and fellow Irish modeller Dennis Mowatt. died yesterday at home with his family

Despite battling with cancer for the last couple of years, Dennis continued to be an active modeller and Irish railway enthusiast right up until the end. For me he was the ultimate information resource – no matter how obscure the subject he always came up with the photos and drawings I needed, as well as encouragement and (good natured!) criticism.

Despite living over here in the Midlands for many years, Dennis retained his broad Dublin accent, although his family were originally from the North (his dad worked for the NCC). He often told me stories of railways around Dublin – AEC railcars and youthful trips on the Hill of Howth tram spring to mind.
We had hoped to make another railway trip to Ireland this year, maybe even a ride behind his beloved J15 No 186, but sadly it was not to be. I am sure I will not be alone in missing his support and friendship.
